Still time to take a tour of gallery
Artist Ted Coney will be closing his pop-up gallery in December for the winter – so visitors who want to book a tour are urged to do so soon.
Mr Coney has been opening his 300-year-old cottage, on Ely’s Waterside, and explaining to people about his work for the past six years.
All his paintings take the theme of family life and family relationships.
Mr Coney has divided them up into eight different tours, lasting about an hour each.
Bookings are now being take for the last four tours of the season on November 27 and 30, December 7 and December 14.
As well as viewing some of the finished paintings, visitors also see inside Mr Coney’s studio where he is currently working on The Rashomon Effect, a painting about a doomed love affair from more than 100 years ago and its subsequent effects on the family.
The Quizzer, which appears in the painting, plays a significant part in the story.
Mr Coney had 2,000 visitors to his exhibition at the Babylon Gallery earlier this year.
He said: “It is always interesting to hear, when people remark that similar events have happened to their families.”
