Hollies and Sparrows

My brother has all my  preliminary sketches for a painting I made in 1979, entitled ‘Hollies and Sparrows’. I photographed one recently when we were visiting and you can see it on my latest Instagram and Facebook posts.

For the painting, I made a drawing of every house in Woollards Lane, Great Shelford, where we were living at the time. The drawing shows our house, half hidden by a holly tree, with the adjoining house  owned by the Sparrow family. Hence the title.
