Artists across county showcase their work in open studios event

Artists are inviting the public into their creative spaces.

Studios across Cambridgeshire will open their doors this July for Cambridge Open Studios, one of the UK’s longest-running artist-led one studios events.

The event will take place over four weekends.

Paul Janssens and Sarah Dokin Rush, Lindy Jane Rainbow, Janene Elise Pike are among the artists taking part.

Richard Bray, chair of Cambridge Open Studios, said: “Cambridge Open Studios has become one of the country’s most established open studio events, but what makes it truly special is that it has never lost its warmth, accessibility or sense of community.

For visitors, it is a rare opportunity to step inside working studios, meet artists directly, buy unique work and experience creativity where it is made.”

Studios will open in Littleport, Haddenham, Soham, Fordham, and other nearby areas, giving visitors a chance to explore the full breadth of the region’s artistic talent.

Glass artist Andree Bowmer, mosaic artist Linda McCord, and light artist Chris Wood will also be taking part.

The vent aims to support emerging artists and widen access to the arts.

This year’s programme includes ongoing partnerships such as the Fitzwilliam Museum Young Artists initiative, which supports the development of young talent.

The Hill Group, a major arts donor, said: ” The greatest cities are not shaped by bricks and mortar alone, but by the communities and culture that breath life into them.

As a housebuilder deeply rooted in Cambridge, we believe true placemaking goes beyond buildings and construction.

Championing and nurturing the creative community and supporting local artists helps the city thrive.”

More than 300 artists across Cambridgeshire are expected to take part, with thousands of visitor expected to attend across the four weekends.
