In 2001 I was visiting the Uffizi Gallery and saw a diptych by Piero Della  Francesca entitled ‘ The Duke and Duchess of Urbino’.

What intrigued me the most was the frame and it inspired the framing of the painting I was making at the time, ‘3001’.

My painting imagined my Morris Minor as a time capsule which was buried and rediscovered in a 1,000 years time (hence the title). The objects which represented my family, and buried with the car where a modern equivalent of some objects I had seen recently in a museum and were found in a Roman shrine.

You can see the paintings (and their frames) which both make use of transport, on my latest Facebook, Instagram and Bluesky posts
