Pop along to have a look
Ely artist Ted Coney is opening his house on Waterside to the public for a third season.
Billed as ‘Ely’s first pop-up gallery’, visitors will be able to see some of the paintings which have been made during the last 40 years representing life over five generations of a family.
“It’s a pop-up gallery because when all the signs are down, it reverts back to being a private house,” said Mr Coney, when describing his 300-year-old cottage, which he shares with his wife Hazel.
Ted Coney’s Family Portraits has tours starting at 2pm and 3pm on Sundays (other times by appointment), which should be booked in advance as only six people can be accommodated at any one time. As there are eight tours, visitors can ask fora particular one when they make contact.
“I have had several visitors coming back more than once as they know they can see something different,” said the former head of art, at Hills Road Sixth Form College.
Although none of the works are for sale, it is possible to buy postcards of some of the paintings.
