Living By The Rule

I’ve always been interested in objects and how they tell stories so I was intrigued by the lecture I attended at Ely Museum recently.

It was called ‘Living By the Rule’ and was about life in a medieval monastery – told through the objects which were around at the time. However, there was also another layer of meaning suggested by a contemporary artwork, displayed side by side with the museum piece.

The lecture was accompanying an exhibition of the same name which is currently on show at the Sainsbury Centre, University of East Anglia.
