Framed

We’ve just been to Ghent to see the van Eyck brothers altarpiece ‘ The Lamb of God’. You can see it on my latest Facebook and Instagram posts.

The front section (there are also images on the back) comprises of twelve framed paintings, positioned on two levels. It had been removed from its position above the altar where it would have been fighting for prominence with  other religious works, to a darkened room in another chapel. It glowed in it’s stark, black box.

The arrangement of frames has given me an idea of how I might display my next painting – I’m about to start experimenting with the composition.
