Eleanor Rides Again

I’ve just finished reading Alice Loxton’s excellent new book ‘Eleanor’. In it, she describes her own journey on foot to discover the trail of the Eleanor crosses, which were put up  to commemorate the death of Queen Eleanor of Castile in 1290. The journey follows the cortege from Harby in Lincolnshire to Westminster Abbey where she was buried.

In 2008 I made the same journey by bicycle to celebrate  female members of my family, by laying a flower at every point. I then made a painting entitled ‘Snow Angels And No Angels’ which comprises of 15 small canvases, one for each relative.

You can see a short video of all the canvases (when they were displayed together at my exhibition at the Norris Museum in 2024.) , on my latest Instagram and Facebook posts. Foe a longer look at each one individually, go to the PRINTS FOR SALE page on my website.
