The Cope

I’ve posted a picture of the latest stage of my painting ‘Forged In Life’ on my Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky accounts this week. Although moving slowly, I’ve been trying to tackle the images on the facings of each cope, as they dissolve into the water.

I’ve been inspired by the symbolism of the images that you see on a bishops cope ( photo). In mine, I’m using the swing boat to represent me, and the donkey boiler to represent my brother.

It should become clearer, when I place them again, in other parts of the painting.
