It’s Ironic

You can see my painting ‘Pharaohs And Mortals’ on my latest Instagram and Facebook posts. It’s in my exhibition at the Norris Museum (which finishes on 22nd June.)

I made the painting in 1988, fifteen years after our wedding. I wrote to both sets of families and requested an object they felt best represented them. I  positioned these in the painting in the same places as in the official wedding photograph.

It’s ironic that the subject of the painting is a museum cabinet, seeing as the work is now displayed at the Norris!

There  is also a photograph of Hazel and me and our chosen objects – a fan shell and a pen on a string.
