In The Shadows

I think I’ve almost finished my 2025 painting ‘Time Frames’ but wanted to experiment with a shadow behind the painted frame within the picture .   The illusionary frame was inspired by one I had seen in Ghent last year. Luckily, I had bought a copy of the painting in the form of a postcard and by cutting around the frame and shining a spotlight I was able to get an idea of how the shadow would look.

When I painted the shadow onto my picture it did not look so good. However, by rubbing the paint back once it was dry it looks more convincing.
