Ely arts festival: Artist to open garden gallery to public
An artist will open his garden gallery to the public this June as part of the Ely Arts Festival.
Ted Coney, who lives in Ely, will take part in the Artists At Home scheme, with his work on display during the weekends of June 13–14 and June 20–21.
He will also open his studio, where visitors can see a work in progress which is both a portrait of two brothers and about their contribution to climate change.
Mr Coney said: “I was worried that I might die before my painting was finished, and I thought that might be a bit ironic.”
His latest work is a portrait of two brothers that also reflects on their contribution to climate change.
All of Mr Coney’s paintings begin with a family story, with his newest piece, Time Frames, exploring ‘the inconvenience of death.’
The garden gallery forms part of the Ely Arts Festival, and will also be included in Cambridge Open Studios during the last three weekends in July.
