Artist to show off work at his gallery

Ely artist Ted Coney is hosting tours around his home-based gallery this winter.

Tours are being held at Ted Coney’s Family Portraits, in Waterside, every Sunday throughout November.

Ted’s collection starts with a painting about his grandmother and her four sisters, produced in 1969.

He is now working on a painting about the deaths of his mother and sister-in-law and the births of a great niece and granddaughter a year later.

Most of the paintings are oil on canvas, though there are some examples of painting on glass, wood and Ivorene.

The history of family and symbolism in paintings play a key role in his collection.

Tours will start at 2pm each Sunday and will last around two hours.
