About The Collection Ted Coney - Artist And Teacher Ted Coney has been painting for over forty years and was Head of Art and Design at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge for over thirty. His work has often appeared in mixed shows and open studios but this is the first time that the original oil paintings have all been exhibited together. Original Art In Cambridgeshire A group of forty Original Oil paintings produced by artist Ted Coney on the theme of family life and family relationships. ' I never run out of ideas ' says Ted Coney, ' because families are endlessly fascinating.' The collection starts with a painting about his grandmother and her four sisters, produced in 1969 and a more recent painting celebrates his daughter’s marriage and subsequent birth of a first grandchild. Ted Coney is now working on ideas for a painting about two cousins who had an interesting second world war! Most of the paintings are oil on canvas, though there are some examples of painting on glass, wood and Ivorene. The history of family and symbolism in paintings play a key role in this original collection.
